CVSs are local infrastructure organisations (LIO) and there is one working in almost every district and city in England. While the characteristics, history and name of individual CVSs may differ from place to place, they share the same purpose and values.

Many, like Chelmsford CVS, have been successful in achieving membership of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action. All support, promote and develop local voluntary action through a number of key functions.

Download a copy of 'Local Focus: National Voice' below to read more about the work of LIOs.  CVSs promote the effectiveness of local voluntary and community groups by providing them with a range of services; from loan of basic equipment and support in specialist areas such as fundraising, to training and advice on all aspects of voluntary sector management.
